Guitar Chord Theory - Diminished Triads

Diminished triads are made up of the following notes of the major scale 1st, flattened 3rd, and flattened 5th.

In the scale of C major C D E F G A B this would equal C (1st), Eb (3rd flattened b=flattened), and Gb (5th flattened)

Lets try another exercise...

In the key of G major name the notes of a G diminished triad.

Key of G major = G A B C D E F#

G minor triad = G(1st), Bb(3rd b), and Db(5th b)

Very good! Now here's some review...

Major = 1,3,5

Minor = 1,3b,5

Diminished = 1,3b,5b
